FAQs

What sensors are packaged within the KUBE SENSOR?

The KUBE SENSOR contains top of the line sensor components from leading manufacturers. We provide Temperature, Humidity, Air Pressure, Acceleration in XYZ axes and noise level. For more details please see our specification sheets.

Can I connect my own sensors to the KUBE GATEWAY?

Yes. if you have probes/sensors that output analog voltages they can be connected & powered by the KUBE SENSOR. Each KUBE SENSOR has 2 x analog Input channels for connecting any analog signal that can work up to 3.3V.

Is the KUBE SENSOR waterproof?

Yes, the KUBE SENSOR is built from durable materials with an IP65 rating. It can withstand temperatures from -40 deg C to +85 deg C.

How often do I need to replace the batteries in the KUBE SENSORS?

Under normal operating conditions (0 deg C to 40 deg C) the batteries should last at least 3 years. The dashboard will notify you if battery levels are low on any sensor and need to be replaced.

How often does the KUBE SENSOR transmit data to the KUBE GATEWAY?

Every sensor transmits data with an interval of 5 seconds for the LIVE subscription and every 5 minutes for the PRO subscription. This data is transmitted using a proprietary Bluetooth low energy method to improve range, reliability and security.

What is the maximum range of the KUBE SENSORS?

The KUBE SENSORS have an effective range of 25m in a cluttered factory environment with non line of sight. In open spaces with line of sight this range can potentially increase.

Can the KUBE GATEWAY receive data from SENSORS through walls?

Yes, we have tested it through walls and find that within 25m you can receive data depending on the thickness and construction materials. With higher gain antennas on the GATEWAY, longer range can be achieved.

Can the KUBE GATEWAY be connected to my WiFi router, Access Point or 4G?

Yes, you can easily connect the KUBE GATEWAY to any WiFi router, access point or cellular gateway directly with the provided LAN cable.

Is the data accessible over the cloud?

Yes, you can easily setup a KUBE GATEWAY to be accessible over the internet, or locally on premises (by default), please see our guide on “accessing data over the cloud.”

Can the KUBE GATEWAY be powered using Solar Panels?

Yes, the KUBE GATEWAY can be powered using a solar panel, the power consumption at a maximum is only 5W. In order to operate for 12 hrs on battery, one would need a 60Wh rechargeable battery pack. Depending on your sunlight coverage during the day, a 10W solar panel measuring approximately 35cm x 25cm would be enough to safely recharge the battery and power the gateway.

How can I view data from the KUBE GATEWAY?

All the data from your KUBE SENSORS are visible on an easy to customize browser dashboard (works on any device PC or mobile). Everything has been setup and configured for you to harvest insights in real time.

Can I set alerts on the dashboard?

Through the visualization dashboards you can easily set multi variable and rule based alerts using a wide variety of channels such as email, Telegram, Discord, Google Hangouts, Microsoft Teams, Slack and Webhook amongst others. Se our guide titled “Setting up alerts” for more information.

Can I integrate the KUBE GATEWAY data with my existing back end system?

Yes, using MQTT you can easily configure any KUBE GATEWAY to send data directly to a broker of your choice whether that be local or on the cloud.

Can I read data from multiple KUBE GATEWAYS?

Yes, by configuring the KUBE GATEWAY through the configuration portal you can mesh multiple gateways together and use one as a primary server for the database.

Can I change the IP address of the KUBE GATEWAY?

Yes, it is possible to set a static IP for the gateway. It requires a few manual steps after initial setup. For more information and instruction guide on how to do so please refer to this section.

How much data can be stored on the KUBE GATEWAY?

Two years of historical data can be comfortably stored on a single server assuming there are 4 sensors connected. In addition, raw data can be downloaded for archival purposes (only with PRO subscription)

What certifications do KUBE Products have?

The KUBE SENSORS transmit data using a pre certified Bluetooth Low Energy Module. It has FCC & CE certifications. The KUBE GATEWAY also has FCC & CE certifications but does not transmit any wireless data.
